Short Writing Assignment 2 - Topic Proposal, Thesis & Annotated Bibliography

You will need to have a clear and strong thesis to drive your project, as well as strong and useful secondary sources. To this end, you will create a document that contains your topic proposal and thesis and an annotated bibliography of your TWO secondary sources.

Your paper must use MLA format, which includes citing and documenting all sources. You must use 12 pt Times New Roman font and your work must be double-spaced, as always.

Due Date

SWA 2 will be due in electronic form at 11:59PM on Friday, Week 9. It will be returned to you with comments during the next class period, in order to aid in your drafting of Essay 2.

Detailed Description

Your document should be formatted very specifically. Pay attention to these instructions and follow them carefully.

• Begin with a centered possible title for your project.
• Then, follow with your topic proposal and thesis (try to condense the type of information you included in SWA 1 into about half a page).
• After that, you should format it as a standard MLA annotated bib of your two secondary sources (not your primary one—that is, NOT the story, podcast, film, or comic that you are writing on), which is simply an alphabetized works cited list; however, after each citation, you should have a paragraph or two detailing three things:
  • Where and when the source is from and who wrote it,
  • A short summary of the source’s argument and major points, and
  • A brief discussion of why it will be useful to your project.
